Tips to get the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Booking your Charleston area vacation home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. STUNNING Oceanfront Home! Golf & Ocean Views, Hot Tub, Golf Cart, Pool Access! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
