Strategies to get the very best Charleston area vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking your prefectrental:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sandy Oaks: The Best of Both Worlds! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
