Charleston rental home booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick the best Charleston area rental home:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Historic Downtown Home w\/ Parking has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
