Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation rental in Charleston:
- First and foremost, have your group select trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Comfy, Clean, Beachy, Amazing Waterview. Near Folly Beach & Downtown Charleston. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve your home. - Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
