Tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to visit Charleston & When to book:
- To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 1905 Victorian Historic Home Just 2 Blocks To King has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
