Tips to get the perfect Charleston area vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the rightvacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Rutledge Ave - Renovated 2 Bed Home - Downtown! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
