Tricks and tips to get the perfect Charleston area vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer is high season in Charleston. To book the best rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best rental home in the Charleston area area:

  • Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. THE INNS Amazing 2 BR 1 BA Luxury Suite! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
