Sticking to your spending plan:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
