Finding the best vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer months are high season in Isle of Palms. To book the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking the bestrental:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Renovated, Charming 3 BR Villa in WD, Golf Cart Included, & Short walk to Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or applied to your invoice.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
