Finding the best Charleston area rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking the right Charleston area rental home:

  • To start, have your group agree to trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Perfect 4BR\/2BA Home! Less Than 10 Minutes to Downtown Charleston & Folly Beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area beach you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
