Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to visit Charleston & When to book:
- To find the best rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book the bestrental home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Penthouse with Courtyard - 1 BLOCK TO KING ST! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
