Rental property booking tips:
When to visit & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick a perfect Charleston area rental:
- To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. LOCATION! Stunning Downtown Home Steps to King St has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
