Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront w\/ Gorgeous Views! Classic Beach Home, \/MIL Suite! Perfect layout for large families! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
