Getting the best vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. Book your Charleston area rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book the bestrental:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. McKenzie Suite at The Mary Scott House has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Have a fantastic stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
