Strategies to get the optimal Charleston area vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the perfect Charleston area vacation home:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Adorable bungalow close to downtown and Folly Beach! Park pass included! has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
