Strategies to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book a perfectrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Luxury Oasis - 3 NEW Houses on 1 Property has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
