Finding the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:

When to visit Isle of Palms & When to book:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Tucked in among trees, get away in this charming home short walk to the beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
