Our top Charleston area rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect rental home in Isle of Palms:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Stunning Modern Home Near Beach w\/ Two Kitchens has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
