Strategies for getting the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. Reserve your Charleston area rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Filter your search:
- First, have your group agree to trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Updated Pet friendly beach home, large screened porch, walk to beach! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your family.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
