How to find the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Charleston. Reserve your Charleston area rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Selecting and booking your prefect Charleston area vacation home:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sazerac: Newly Renovated Historic Treasure has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. text the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
