Charleston rental home booking tips:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Charleston. To find the largest rental within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the best rental home:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Newly Renovated, Charming Home, Walk to Hampton Park has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you crave, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
