Strategies to get the best Charleston vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Book your Charleston area rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation rental in Charleston:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Bright Historic Charleston Luxury Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
