Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental home:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Bright Historic Charleston Luxury Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
