Finding the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best vacation rental in Isle of Palms:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful Oceanfront Home on Quiet Street! Community Pool\/Tennis & Private Hot Tub! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
