Our top Charleston rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Charleston. To book the best rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking the right Charleston area rental:
- Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Downtown near King St - 4BR\/2BA has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Charleston area beach you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
