Tips to get the best Charleston vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing your Charleston area rental home:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Sweet Couples Retreat at The Vesper Suite has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
