Our top Rental home booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
