Finding the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
Find your best deal:
- To book the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing and booking the bestrental home:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Only 2 Blocks to King! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
