How to get the best vacation property experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- To find the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Lodge Alley Inn, Charleston, South Carolina, Studio has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
