Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. The Lodge Alley Inn™ - Studio has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
