Tricks and tips to get the perfect Charleston area rental home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, shift your family's Charleston area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best Charleston area rental:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Charleston Bicycle House has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
