Tips and Tricks to get the best Charleston area vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • To get the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Selecting and booking your Charleston area rental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Comfy, Cozy, Captivating
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
