How to find the best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- To book the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Private Pool, luxe interiors, 1-block to beach has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
