How to get the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the bestvacation home:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Steps to King
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
