Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.

Finding the best rental home:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Rosemary House
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you long to visit, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
