Our top Rental booking tips:
Get the most from your budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your Charleston area rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Patio, Porches and Parking - 2 Blocks to King! has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
