Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing and booking the perfect Charleston area vacation home:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Liberty Place Charleston, a Hilton Club - Studio Plus (4th and 5th Floors Only) has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Have a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
