Strategies to get the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Great Neighborhood Restaurants! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
