Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick your prefectrental:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. The Lodge Alley Inn, Charleston, South Carolina, 1 Bedroom has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
