Tips to get the perfect Charleston area vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Charleston. Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the best rental home:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Large Home - Downtown Charleston! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
