Strategies to get the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Charleston area rental & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, change your family's Charleston area vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking your Charleston area rental:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Amazing Island Home, Private Pool, Close to Beach! - 3008 Hartnett has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Charleston area destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
