How to get the best rental experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Folly Beach Condo with Water Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. message the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
