Booking the best Charleston vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in Charleston. Reserve your Charleston area rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best rental in Charleston:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Downtown Charleston One Block to King St. Free Off Street Parking has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
