Finding the best Charleston rental home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the Charleston area area:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Club Ed Charleston has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If not, call the host before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
