Booking the best rental home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Choosing the best rental in Charleston:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Expansive oak canopy covered outdoor living space in amazing Charleston has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your group.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
