Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Built in 1840 - Stunning Renovation
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
