Tips to get the best Charleston area vacation property experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Reserve your Charleston area vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect rental home in the Charleston area area:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Charleston Charm - 3 Bedroom - 2 Blocks to King St has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
