Our top Rental property booking tips:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Brighthouse CHS has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
