Charleston rental booking tips:
Sticking to your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in Charleston:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beautifully Restored Downtown Apartment has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you simply love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
