Vacation rental booking tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose a perfect Charleston area vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 4 Bedrooms - 4 Blocks to King Street with Parking has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
