Strategies to get the very best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking your Charleston area rental:
- Start by having your group agree to trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. THE INNS Renovated & Charming 4BR\/3BA Downtown has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
